WROCLAW-SERIES 2021/2022:
'Developing Embodied interventions and experiments within the co-created embodied field'
Julianne Appel-Opper
after success of Krakows edition will offer a series of three weekend workshops in Wroclaw
NO SEATS LEFT. YOU CAN SIGN UP RESERVE LIST.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
The way client and therapist look, sit, move, and breathe sends messages in both directions. Within a cocreated embodied field two living bodies communicate with each other as rhythms and melodies of moving and being moved. Julianne has developed a new way of understanding of and working within this body-to-body-communication in a relational and field-oriented way without physically touching each other.
Using her experience of many years of clinical practice and teaching, Julianne offers a safe and respectful space for exercises, experiential process, live supervision, small group work together with theory input and a critical discussion and reflection of different approaches to body process in psychotherapy and relevant interdisciplinary research findings in this field.
Julianne’s practice is underpinned in Dialogical Gestalt Psychotherapy, Relational Psychoanalytical thinking and is well situated within research fields of neuroscience, attachment, and developmental psychology.
The three Wroclaw workshops aim at providing a broad introduction to bodily and interbodily processes. Using a combination of theoretical input and experiential processes, we will focus on the therapist’s embodiment, the embodied field between therapist and client, including traumatic communications. An exploration of rhythms and movements, will lead us to focus on how to develop embodied interventions and experiments.
The three Sundays will concentrate on Embodied Supervision. In this format, we will look at the bodily gestalten, the aesthetics of the ground, the atmospheres, the rhythms and thus the body-to-body-communication.
Participation of this program also includes a handout and a student discount on the online Confer Module 'Embodied Approaches to Psychotherapy'.
LEADER:
Julianne Appel-Opper, psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer has worked over 30 years. For 12 years, she lived and worked in different countries and is now in private practice in Berlin. Her clinical experiences in Psychosomatic Clinics at the start of her clinical work in 1988, motivated her to research interbodily processes: what we say without words and what we see without looking. She has developed the approach Relational Living Body Psychotherapy which she has taught, presented internationally and written about in 27 publications, including the British Gestalt Journal, USA Body Psychotherapy Journal, the Confer program on Embodied Approaches to Psychotherapy with a lecture and a filmed demonstration of Embodied Supervision, see www.confer.uk.com and recently the International Journal of Body Psychotherapy, see www.ibpj.org. Situated within an Integrative Gestalt and Relational Psychoanalytic frame, this way of working introduces embodied interventions and experiments as new ways to open up embodied communications in the therapeutic space. The approach aims at implicit bodily communications and how these unspoken embodied stories can be open up for further exploration.
Since 2001 she has worked internationally as a visiting tutor at several psychotherapy institutes. From 2004-2015 she was visiting tutor/viva examiner for the Integrative Department at Metanoia, London. Her collaborations with international training programs include the Norwegian Gestaltinstitut, the Polish Szkoleniagestalt Group, the Institut de Développement du Thérapeute in Paris and Confer, London.
